Enjoy Summer

Hope you are enjoying the summer.

Things are slowing down a bit at KPC. Summer is a perfect time to slow down, reflect on the beauty of God’s creation, enjoy fellowship in the sunshine, and engage in uplifting activities that warm our hearts and souls. In the next few weeks I will be taking some time away to rest with my family and "re-create."  I hope you are getting some time to rest and re-create too. It's a great opportunity to share in laughter, worship outdoors, and engage in some community events that make the most of the long, sunny days.  I have arranged Ministry Candidate Chorong Shin and our children and youth ministry director the Rev. Jaebok Gu to lead the worship service on Sunday August 18th and 25th.  I hope you continue to join us!

Blessings,
Richard

Ratanak’s Road to Freedom Challenge

Genocide and civil war left countless Cambodian families traumatized, living in extreme poverty, desperate for income and vulnerable to exploitation. Today, there is a new generation of young Cambodians, many of whom are unprotected, uninformed and at risk of falling prey to exploitation. Traffickers promise well-paying jobs abroad, but instead, young Cambodian men and women are sold into modern-day slavery. They endure brutal working conditions, physical and sexual violence, and are trapped with no way home.

Survivors who miraculously escape come home destitute, traumatized, ashamed and broken. But they are not alone. Genocide and civil war left countless Cambodian families traumatized, living in extreme poverty, desperate for income and vulnerable to exploitation. Today, we see a new generation of young Cambodians tenaciously seeking out a better future for their families. Social structures and supports are still being rebuilt throughout the country, leaving many young people unprotected, uninformed and at risk of falling prey to exploitation.

Traffickers promise well-paying jobs abroad, but instead, young Cambodian men and women are sold into modern-day slavery. They endure brutal working conditions, physical and sexual violence, and are trapped with no way home. Ratanak steps in to support trafficking survivors on their journey to healing, but they need lots of money to do their work.
