Introduction
At its August 2021 meeting, the Kerrisdale Session met with the Rev. Dr. Dale Woods, the Presbyter of Mission and Vision for the Presbytery of Westminster and will Kelly Patrick, the Clerk of Session for West Point Grey Presbyterian Church to discuss the possible amalgamation of West Point Grey and Kerrisdale Presbyterian churches.
After some general discussion about what each congregation hoped to achieve by doing this, Session approved a motion that we strike a committee composed of Richard Watson (minister of KPC and interim moderator of WPG), Dale Woods (Presbytery representative), Kelly Patrick (WPG Clerk of Session), and Susan Stacey (KPC Clerk of Session) to consider developing a common vision leading to a possible amalgamation of the congregations of West Point Grey PC and Kerrisdale PC.
The committee agreed to go through the amalgamation document from the national church. Dale mentioned that three churches in New Westminster (the Growing Together churches) have been going through this same process for two years and may have helpful advice and an updated document. They also have used the services of an outside consultant (Bruce Cairnie), with Presbytery helping to fund his services.
