  • KPC men's breakfast - Sat. Mar.1, 8:30 am
  • Ash Wednesday, Mar. 5

Let me start by thanking our group of amazing volunteers who gave up their Saturday to make the Refugee Conference a success. From the early birds (arriving before 8AM!) setting up the tables and chairs and the kitchen volunteers making sure hot drinks and nibbles were ready and waiting for when the participants arrived. Actually there were several kitchen teams along with the early-bird team; the group preparing for the break, the prepping for lunch bunch, the cleaning up after lunch and the group preparing for the afternoon. The Audio/Visual team who made on-line participation possible and others working behind the scene. Of course we also have to thank everyone who provided the abundant desserts! You could almost hear the dessert table groaning under its load of goodies. Last, but hardly least, was the cleanup bunch who also took the left-over food to the church kitchen for use at Fellowship Time after the Sunday Service and put away the tables and chairs and swept and mopped to make sure the hall would be ready for use by the next group of users.

It required a lot of coordination to make it all work. And work it did, as you can see from the numbers. We had nineteen groups represented and close to sixty participants, with twelve on-line. Lots of new connections were made both personal and organizational. The information provided by the speakers was spot on.

A comment from one of the participants sums it up nicely:  "You and your team put on an excellent conference yesterday (Saturday). It was interesting, informative, useful, invigorating .....I was so very heartened to meet all the kind, compassionate people of all ages and ethnicities coming together for a common purpose. To be honest, with what is happening in the world and the indifference, selfishness, and downright hatred of others being exhibited, I was feeling despondent. But, I came away with hope for humankind."

It seems we may have done some good!

KPC men's breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m., Sat., March 1, 2025, in the KPC church hall (on the north side of the church parking lot). The speaker will be Charles Boname who will speak on his life and faith journey. Please let our minister Richard Watson, or Kiejoon Kim know if you are coming. You can also put your name down on the sign-up sheet in the church narthex on Sunday mornings.

Donations received at the March 1 men's breakfast meeting will be directed to KPC's men's group fund to cover food costs for these breakfast meetings. If writing a cheque, please make the donation in favour of Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church, along with a note in the memo line saying, "KPC's men's group fund."

Dear all,

The office secretary will have some relaxing time in nature from February 24th to March 2nd. Hopefully, she can serve everyone better after recharging :)
